A Legal Immigrant Vents About the Amnesty Bill
Presenting Emperor Darth Misha I (language warning):
Thanks for the slap in the face, you nutless nincompoops. After all the hoops that yours truly jumped through gladly to become a citizen, it’s really heartwarming to see you fuckheads handing out the status for free to a bunch of law-breaking fucknozzles whose only qualification for being here is that they managed to swim across the Rio Grande. That option, sadly, wasn’t open to us since swimming the Atlantic is a bit more than even we can handle. Not that we’d have done so anyway. It’s called “respect for the law”, and you empty, corrupt suits in DC might want to look into it one day.
And please, don’t give us any spin about “border security measures needing to be in place before amnesty” either. We heard it all before. 1986, anyone? You’re going to run from that requirement faster than Whorealdo Rivera can run to a camera. Not that it matters anyway. You’ve just handed out amnesty to 12-20 million lawbreakers, parasites that have been sucking the blood out of our system for years without paying a red dime into it.
Come on, Misha. We all know that
three of the Fort Dix Six came here over the Mexican border illegally in 1984 to work. This has no implications for national security at all. And as for your long, hard struggle to become a legal US citizen?
Stop being anti-Hispanic!11!!
Another Flavor of Political Suicide?
Posted at Captain's Journal:
[W]hile the various conservative commentaries and blogs seem to get [immigration] about right, no one seems to be focusing on what the immigration phenomenon will do to the political scene in the coming decade. If [Robert] Rector is right concerning the numbers, we will be adding tens of millions of voters to the rolls in the coming decade. These voters are by and large socialistic. The Mexican political landscape is possibly the most Marxist in the world along with a few other South American countries, and the common man in Mexico has been steeped in the politics of "oppression" for at least 70 years. Further, his religion, while ostensibly Roman Catholic, is really a form of liberation theology with the trappings of Catholicism. The typical Mexican has heard the politics of oppression not just from their politicians, but from their clergy as well. . . .
The coming years will see a cataclysmic shift in the political scene in America with the addition of millions of voters who have been trained to believe that they are “oppressed” by the bourgeois elite and who, by the gift of a vote, will then be empowered to take from the middle class the things that they see as rightfully theirs.
Why … why … why … is no one talking about this coming political earthquake?
There's a write-up on liberation theology
here, if you're interested. I'm not an expert in Mexican political philosophy, but I don't find any of this hard to believe. Despite what you may have heard, Mexico is not an impoverished country because of its geography, its native species, or its name, or because it is exploited by the U.S., or because the ghost of Montezuma keeps it down, or because of its cuisine, its music or its national sport. Mexico is not an impoverished country because it lacks natural resources or hardworking people. Mexico is not kept down by the predations of the Chupacabra. Mexico is an impoverished country with a completely messed up political landscape
because of its political culture--i.e., the political philosophy of its voters. These are pretty much the same types of voters you'll find in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas--with the same results.
Now, I can certainly understand why the Democrats want to give voting rights to tens of millions of brand new, poor, uneducated voters prepared to vote for the politician who'll promise the largest level of redistribution of wealth. Bringing in millions more of these voters makes perfect sense for the Democrats. But why the hell are the Republicans on board for this?

I've said this before, and I continue to believe it: the root of what currently ails the Republican Party is found in the White House. George W. Bush has been an almost complete disaster for the Party. This amnesty disaster is just the latest example of George W. Bush's lack of fidelity to any principles that can reasonably be called "conservative."
I say this as someone who spent my vacations campaigning for Bush in Florida both in 2000 and in 2004. I gave time and money to Bush in 2000 even though I knew he hadn't been a conservative as governor of Texas and likely wouldn't be as President. I supported Bush for one reason: because I didn't want the ACLU and People for the American Way selecting our nation's federal judges. I gave time and money to Bush again in 2004 even though he'd continued to build a lackluster track record in his four years as President. I did this for the same reason--the judges.

On the one hand, the calculus paid off. We now have Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito in place, rounding out 4 solid conservative jurists on the Court. Yes, we had to threaten mass riots in the streets to get Alito, but we got him. We would not have gotten Justice Alito from President John F'n Kerry. With any luck, those Justices will be there long after George W. Bush is gone from office, and there's nothing much the leftists can do about it. Those are gains "locked in."
Other than the judges, however, George W. Bush and his team have nearly destroyed the "Republican" brand and have at least tarnished the "conservative" brand. There's no need to recount a list of examples here, but it is long and detailed. I'm convinced that reform of this Party will be dead in the water until at least the day that George W. Bush is out of the White House. After that point, we can make progress in unfoundering the U.S.S. G.O.P. from the shoals of "compassionate conservatism." If we've managed to place another RINO in the White House at that point, our task will be pretty difficult. If we've managed to place a conservative Republican in the White House, the task will be easier. Of course, we may very well be stuck with a Democrat in the White House, which cuts both ways.
Whatever happens, it is imperative that conservatives be prepared for the situation in advance. We need to be prepared to "hit the ground running" when our opportunity comes. If you're a conservative, and you're disgusted with the current state of the Republican Party, I encourage you to start working right now to lay the groundwork for a reform effort. We talk a lot on this blog, and that's a good thing, but all our talk means nothing if it's not matched to action. If your local GOP is functional, go get involved. Seek out conservative candidates. If there aren't any conservatives to support, recruit somebody, or run for office yourself. Join a local grassroots conservative group--or start one. Show up.
As much as we complain about the GOP, it's presently the only viable vehicle for advancing conservatism. Unfortunately, it's been hijacked. Let's get it back.
