Jawa knockin on the Online Jihadi Door one at a time and breakin them down

More Than One Way to Skin a Cat

There are a few ways to take down a terrorist website. There are the emails to this that and the other providers, law enforcement and our email a terrorist posts. After all that, if you are lucky, another terrorist outlet is offline and hopefully the operators and users are “neutralized”.

But there is another way, a much more efficient way. Kill or capture the operator.

In the case of one of the al-Qaeda's english version websites that seems to be what has occurred. It is now approaching 30 days since the site has been updated. That is highly unusual and I’d just like to say this very loudly one time.

F*ck Yeah!

Add to that a just a little spittle into the face of the terrorists.

The Arabic version of the website is still being updated and they have other outlets that run english translations and that depresses me. But this particular site has not been updated since just before the death of Abdul Latif al-Jubouri, The Islamic State of Iraq’s information minister. It stands to reason that he or a key translator was killed or captured in the same operation.

This happened once before. The site was dormant for several days last month and I made a comment that al-Qaeda appeared to be under pressure due to the fact that posting on the site was sparse. As if to rebuke me, the blogger/terrorist propagandist posted several new items. So I’ve been a bit gun-shy about a celebratory post.

There have been releases of information that were translated to english from the ISI since then (specifically on the captured US soldiers) which originated from the Arabic version of this site. There are various Jihadi supporters who translate items on various Jihadi forums and other websites, but these items have been less detailed and sophisticated than in the past. They repeat themes and propaganda set forth from the lead given by their so called “information ministry”.

None the less, I feel that we have achieved a victory here. The negative impact on the morale of the enemy should not be underestimated. Remember how you as Jawa readers and I as a contributor feel when a sustained DDOS occurs here. Now just imagine how the Jihadis feel when they check the site and it remains dormant.

Taking down the english version of the website does not stop the Arabic readers from getting their Jihadi fix, but I'll take what I can get. Remember, a lot of Jihadi propaganda is directed towards us to, "Strike fear into the hearts of the cross worshippers."

There many indications that al-Qaeda in Iraq is under steadily increasing pressure. Some, like this one, are quite subtle others are more obvious. I wanted to share this little crack in al-Qaeda facade with you.
